Story
Why a Marchathon?
We became a charity in 2022 and have an exciting and forward-thinking programme of community support.
We are acutely aware that our area suffers from significant levels of multiple deprivation. We are already taking small steps in this area but with your help can do so much more.
We are already working with partners and stakeholders - including schools - to focus on youth engagement and development. Going forward, our charity is the perfect vehicle to help in the delivery of improved physical and mental health.
We have an amazing Club with more than 200 playing members. All are aligned to a performance-driven plan that delivers family-friendly inclusive hockey across our catchment. Our members contributions go towards our coaching and their professional development, improvements in equipment and our facilities from grass roots to elite.
This campaign will deliver on three fronts:
Firstly, it will bring together all playing members (and non-playing if they wish!) to be part of a unifying campaign where all will be able to say "I did it".
Secondly, as a relatively new charity that has just adopted a robust three-year development plan, we want to demonstrate to funding bodies and potential sponsors that we understand our charitable commitment and that we will lead by example.
Thirdly, we know just how much sport and leisure has been impacted by so many issues over the last three years: forced closures, restrictions, increases in costs and more. Equally, we know the benefits of strong physical and mental health and general wellbeing. Collectively, we want to ensure our charity can deliver more to those who need it most.
Each and every member is asking friends, family and colleagues to support them - to make a donation (triggering Gift Aid if applicable) so we can hit our target. If each member can raise a total of £50.00 across the 31 days, we will hit our targtet - and that will be FANTASTIC!
We are a club with an amazing history. We want to be a charity with a great future that is able to deliver benefits far beyond the pitch into homes across our community.
Thank you for reading this and we very much hope you are able to support us.
