Story

Grief Encounter South West support bereaved children, young people and their families following the death of a loved one. Through provision of our one-to-one counselling, residential fun-days, award-winning Grief Relief Kits and our national helpline, grieftalk, we provide the highest quality bereavement support. As well as our therapy centre in London, we are now proud to have a dedicated counselling space in Bristol covering the Bristol and the South-West. We also have our e-counselling services which enable us to support children all over the country with professional therapeutic, online sessions.

Unfortunately the demand for our services has increased by 30% over the last year, and we have forecast another 25% uplift over the next 12 months. To help us meet this rise in need for essential bereavement support, we urgently need to raise £10,000 this festive season.

By donating to our fundraising campaign, you will be helping us fund more therapy sessions, and provide other vital support services for bereaved children and young people in and around the South West.

What's more is that every donation made will be matched by the generosity of BrisDoc doubling each and every donation.

Tom plays in the Gloucestershire County Cricket Team. His wife died of cancer leaving him with two daughters, aged 4 and 2.

After my wife died, I was left looking after two young daughters. My eldest, Rosie, had just started school and was really struggling. I was at breaking point but when I was put in touch with Grief Encounter, I was able to feel a huge amount of relief. Thanks to 1-1 therapy, my daughter can now discuss happy memories about her mummy with ease. The sessions not only supported Rosie but also allowed me to spend time talking to other parents in similar positions, allowing me a safe space to discuss my worries too. Grief Encounter normalises bereavement and I will be forever grateful for their support.

Please help Grief Encounter South West this Christmas to support more children like Tom's daughters who have sadly gone through the experience of the death of a parent. Thank you in advance and festive greetings to each and every one of you!
