Story
We're delighted that Founder's Day can return in-person this year on Saturday 18th June, and this will be a great occasion for getting together. The day is also vital for raising funds for new developments at the School, from which all pupils will directly benefit.
The Founder's Day Fete, organised by FQE, is the single biggest annual fundraiser to provide state-of-the-art facilities, and increased opportunities, for the benefit of the students. Thanks to previous fundraising efforts, including through our virtual Founder's Days over the past two years, the School has recently opened the new Friends' Recital Hall and Music Rooms, a wonderful facility which creates a much-enhanced environment for curricular and extra-curricular music at QE. This builds upon other major projects such as The Martin Pool, Shearly Hall, Dining Hall and Café 1573, and The Queen's Library - as well as renovations to the Heard Building and the creation of a dedicated room for robotics - which together have transformed our campus.
QE continues to have ambitious goals for the construction of outstanding new facilities and the School still needs your help to achieve them. The next planned project is the creation of a new studio for drama, the performing arts and a range of spoken word activities, such as debating and public speaking - helping build confidence and self-presentation skills.
The fete usually makes about £20,000 for the School. During the pandemic, the brilliant support of the Elizabethan community saw us surpass this and we would love to do so once again. Generations of boys have been helped by the extraordinary generosity of parents, friends, neighbours, and Old Elizabethans. Please give however much you can and leave a message of support. Thank you.
