Story
The current global health crisis has left no person untouched and we know that every one of you will be dealing with your own personal circumstances and challenges.
For the families that the Cardinal Hume Centre help, this crisis will force them further into poverty and destitution. These families were struggling to eat before current Covid-19 crisis, now they will need our support more than ever.
Virtually all the children we support rely on free school meals. With the threat of schools closing early for the Easter break children will go hungry.
Many of the parents we help are on zero hour contracts or in industries adversely affected, such as hospitality. They have suddenly found themselves with no income and unable to pay rent or feed their kids.
The families we support with immigration advice are already living in destitution, often reliant on the kindness of friends and charities for shelter and food. As everyone feels the strain of the current crisis they may find themselves with nowhere to turn.
We are asking you to help us create a special fund for families in crisis to make sure that children can have the essentials and we can continue to support vulnerable families.
We know these are tough times for everyone, so please give as little or as much as you can.
£5 could give a child lunch every day for 5 days
£12 could pay for a child's dinner for a week
£30 could pay for the essentials for a family for a week.
From everyone at the centre thank you so much for your generosity. We hope you and those you love stay safe and healthy.
Any additional money raised will go to run our young persons hostel -providing a home to 37 young homeless people during this crisis, and our advice services to help ensure vulnerable people are given the advice and support they need to remain in their home and to prevent families becoming destitute.
