You are being invited to get involved and sponsor an exciting new project to turn the dilapidated Etherow Stable roof in Broadbottom into a sustainable green beacon for the surrounding area and wildlife.
The Centre roof currently protects the Haywill Animal Rescue and Therapy Centre, but it is letting in water and urgently needs replacing so the Etherow Centre Charitable Trust (which owns the building) is launching an exciting campaign on 19th September to raise £90k to pay for a green, living roof (or £35k to pay for a metal roof if this is not possible).
Haywill Animal Rescue and Therapy Centre, run by former special needs teacher, Lynn Haydon-Williams. provides a sanctuary for animals and humans. Saving unwanted animals from slaughter or death alongside therapy for humans (adults and young people) who need therapy from physical or mental health issues. The Centre and its great work is a vital addition to the area.
Lynn Haydon-Williams who established and has run the Haywill Animal charity for the last 30 years explains Animal Assisted Therapy promotes social interaction, reduces anxiety, releasing stress, increases morale, increases calmness, improves outlook, reduces fear and can reduce the need for medication.
Claire Bibby, Chair of the Etherow Centre Charitable Trust, adds We have decided to launch an ambitious green roof campaign, although we accept that we may need to settle for a metal alternative, because there are so many benefits of creating green roofs and we want our work improve the lives of everyone around us.
Green Roofs provide a rainwater buffer, purify the surrounding air and regulate the indoor temperature which saves energy and encourages biodiversity in the surrounding area. People are happier in a green environment and green roofs are part of creating a caring future for everyone.
Thank you so much for your support - it will make a huge difference to lots of people and animals.
