Story
Ernest (Ernie) Holiday, beloved member of the Class of '79, was a proud and devoted Lincoln Alumnus who found his passion in educating and providing services to our youth. At the 2019 Alumni Awards Banquet Ernest was posthumously awarded the Public Service Award. The Public Service Award recognizes outstanding achievement in any professional field and honors individuals who have fulfilled the obligations of their education through creative leadership in service that has benefited society and reflected credit on the University.
In honor of their loving husband and father, the Holiday Family established this scholarship to provide financial assistance for African-American males from disadvantaged backgrounds who reside in the City of Philadelphia and have the desire to attend college but lack the financial means to do such. This scholarship is designed to provide an incentive for young African-American males to avoid the pitfalls of not continuing their education. The student must have a demonstrated financial need and a minimum of a 2.0 GPA as an incoming freshman to receive the award.
The Family welcomes all who knew Ernie and believe in the potential of our youth to support their goal to fully endow this scholarship.
