Story
My dad would have been on his own if it wasn't for Dundee United Community Trust putting on the Christmas Day meal. He really enjoyed the company on the day.
We are raising vital funds that will allow us to continue to provide our Festive Friends event on Christmas Day at Tannadice Park. The Festive Friends event supports many vulnerable families and individuals who may be living in isolation and experiencing loneliness by bringing them together to share a meal, gifts and entertainment on Christmas Day.
One gentleman finds this particular time of year very difficult and having somewhere to go on Christmas Day made a massive difference to his mood and mental health in general.
What is Festive Friends?
Delivered in partnership with the SPFL Trust, Dundee United Football Club and many local supporters, Festive Friends tackles isolation and loneliness at a vital time of year for some of the most vulnerable people in our community.
The day starts with guests making their way to Tannadice Park in complimentary transport where they are greeted with a smile from one of our marvellous volunteers and are welcomed to the Suite with a non-alcoholic refreshment. The guests are then chaperoned to their seats where they are introduced to fellow guests at their table and have some time to socialise and share a Christmas cracker before the 3 course meal is served.
My sister who requires support attended your Christmas Day lunch. We were a bit anxious as to how she would get on but we needn't have worried, she loved it! I wish to thank you for your efforts. I was particularly touched, not just by the work of the volunteers but also that Robbie Neilson gave up his family time to make an appearance. It made my sisters day.
The guests are then served a 3 course meal of soup, turkey with all the trimmings and a lovely dessert with vegetarian options also available for all courses. After the meal guests receive a selection of gifts to take away from Dundee United Community Trust and our partners. There is even time for some entertainment including a joyous festive sing-a-long and more time for guests to socialise with their new friends. Festive Friends then concludes with complimentary transport home to ensure all guests get home safely.
Why Donate?
One of the families who attended from our school thoroughly enjoyed their day out. Dad finds it really difficult to communicate and his mobility is poor. He said that having the collection service to and from Tannadice was excellent and that he enjoyed not having to worry about cooking for his daughter who is a young carer.
We need your support to ensure some of the most vulnerable people are not left alone on Christmas Day.
Last year we were able to deliver a magnificent event for over 90 local vulnerable people, largely due to the excellent Kiltwalk fundraising campaign. The ongoing impact of Covid-19 and the postponement of Kiltwalk means our limited resources are stretched even further. Supporting this fundraising event will make a massive difference to the sustainability of the Trust and ensure we can continue to deliver projects like this in 2020 and beyond.

Dundee United FC completed their challenge of returning to the SPFL Premiership this year but can you complete our PREMIERSHIP CHALLENGE FUNDRAISER by walking, running or cycling the distance from Tannadice Park to the other 11 SPFL Premiership clubs? The distances are accumulative and to complete the full challenge you would walk, run or cycle 149 miles which would include:

2) Easter Road - 63.6 miles
3) Pittodrie Stadium - 66.2 miles
4) Tony Macaroni Arena - 66.5 miles
