Reclaim the true meaning of Christmas this year by giving a little of your time to raise money to support physical activity in DPT for patient and staff wellbeing.
Wed love for you all to get involved by taking on your own festive activity any time in December (socially distanced if necessary).
Pick your activity, set the day, set the time and donate/raise £5, or as much as youre able. You could do 5 things and donate a pound each time.
It really makes a difference.
Jack Phillips is part of DPTs Physical Health and Wellbeing Team and in conjunction with the DPT Charity aims to raise money this December that will make a significant difference to the people we care for and to the staff that provide that care. He said, Our small team provides physical health activity across the Trust and with your help it will enable us to provide unique therapies over and above what the NHS is able to fund. There is also a clear link between physical health and mental health and we see first-hand the benefits.
Most recently this has included purchasing a reconditioned leg press machine for the Langdon Hospital gym. Langdon Hospital is home to our secure services for men who, as a consequence of their mental health needs, have had contact with the legal system and require a safe and secure environment that enables them to receive treatment. Lead Physical Health Practitioner Arran Hornewood said, When patients come to us they may have previously had active lifestyles or jobs that were active and all of a sudden their activity levels change and the medication they take can lead to weight gain. Its very important to get patients engaged in activities to promote physical and mental health and wellbeing as soon as possible. Its a useful outlet for them away from the ward and theres the social aspect too.
Charitable Funds enable us to exceed expectations every day, and with this additional support, we can provide the very best care plus offer a wider range of activities that can support a variety of needs and abilities.
