Story
Each year, the Association of Independent Maryland Schools hosts the Baltimore Student Diversity Leadership Conference (BSDLC), a diversity and equity leadership training event that is planned by and led by area high school students. Help GCS send a delegation of at least 10 Upper School students and 2 faculty to the 2022 edition of this valuable teaching and learning opportunity.
One benefit of sending Upper School students and faculty to the conference is that they can then share the lessons learned with the broader school community and use this knowledge and collective passion to implicate positive change within our own Dragon community. Upon return from the BSDLC we plan to have the selected group of Upper School student leaders actively involved in facilitating workshops and engaging in Town Hall sessions centered on leadership and social justice for our Middle School scholars. Additionally, all BSDLC student particpants will have the opportunity to become apprentice facilitators at the Maryland Middle School Student Leadership in Diversity Conference that takes place annually each spring. Attendance at the BSDLC conference opens a phenomenal pathway to leadership for our students and prepares them to become future leaders and changemakers of tomorrow.
