We are the team from Converse, East Midlands Designer Outlet and we have been following the journey of the amazing Captain Tobias!
Tobias is 9 years old and has Cerebral Palsy and Autism. At the start of lockdown, he wanted to do something to help raise funds for charity and he took it upon himself to walk the distance of a marathon, despite his challenges! Wind, rain or shine, he was out with his walker, walking up and down the street where he lives in Sheffield, South Yorkshire.
He didn't stop there! He loved to see his neighbours, friends and supporters clapping and cheering each day, so decided to take on a second challenge using a Race Runner. To date, he has raised almost £150,000 for his school, Paces, and his local Children's Hospital.
All of this was done while wearing his Converse Chucks which are Captain Tobias's favourite shoes!! We couldn't be more proud to support him!
Paces is a specialist centre, school and charity who support children and adults with neurological conditions such as Cerebral Palsy, MS, Stroke, Parkinson's and Brain Injury. Their current centre is in such a poor state and the children and adults who they support deserve so much better!
They have recently launched a fundraising campaign to raise £3.5 million towards building a brand new home which will allow them to support up to three times as many families and will also mean that they will no longer have to turn families away.
As you can see from the photograph's, the new centre will be amazing as it includes a hydrotherapy pool, sensory room, sports hall, overnight respite and much more!
We want to do all that we can to help Paces, so we have decided to take on the HUGE challenge of cycling the distance from our store to our head office which is in Hilversum, Holland (480 miles to be precise!)
We are super excited for our event and we would be so grateful if you would support us by making a donation!
Thanks so much
Adam and Team Converse!
