Story
Help us to support James and children like him!
In 2017 Vista raised £45,000 to build a new 'Sensory' room, which is proving to be very successful.
Multi-sensory environments provide a safe and therapeutic space where children with complex needs and their families can break down those barriers, improving cognitive development, language and social interaction skills.
James was a fully sighted baby when he was born, sadly he developed meningococcal meningitis when he was just a few months old, resulting in him now having severe sight loss, epilepsy, global development delay with mobility issues and is non verbal.
James visits our Sensory room every week to play and interact with our Music and Creative Expressionist, Grace.
James' mum, Rachael said
He thoroughly enjoys each session, he is developing his vocalisations and turn taking skills. He also stills to listen to Grace as she plays the instruments and he approaches her to join in. Its lovely to see him emotionally, intellectually and socially benefitting from his sessions with VISTA. It's also interesting to see his reactions to the different coloured lights. I just want to say thank you and share the lovely memories.
Sessions in our Sensory room are of great benefit and in great demand, but we need to raise funds to provide a regular programme of sessions to enable us to maximise the benefits it provides and support more children in your local community.
Help Vista to continue to support James and children like him.
A donation of just £35 would provide a full 1-2-1 session for a child, £245 would enable Vista to engage the services of an additional Music & Creative Expressionist for an extra day, £1,062 would enable us to engage their services one day a week for a month, £12,740 would enable us to engage their services one day a week for a whole year, dramatically increasing capacity and the number of children we can support.
The services we provide are vital to the people we support and your help is vital to Vista!
Vista works across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland and each year we support over 12,500 children, adults and older people with sight loss, as well as supporting their families and carers.
Community fundraising is a large part of our income, without which, we cannot continue to provide our services. Please help us to continue this essential work!
