Story
One in two people will be diagnosed with cancer at some point in their lifetime; it is a condition which sadly affects nearly all families.
ELHT&Me is appealing for your help to raise funds for a refurbishment of the existing Chemotherapy Unit at Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital. The Unit will be completely redesigned and refurbished enabling us to deliver high-quality cancer care in a peaceful and pleasant environment.
The Chemotherapy Unit is a busy service, treating patients with different types of cancer in the whole East Lancashire footprint. When talking to patients, we hear many fantastic things about the care and support offered by staff and the way they frequently go above and beyond the call of duty to help patients. But the area housing the unit needs updating to reflect the outstanding care and dedicated people who work there.
The team provides an excellent service but know it could be even better with improved surroundings that create a more positive and brighter environment. The new lounge would mean provision of an improved experience for our patients in a modern, fit-for-the-future facility that is tailored for patients at different stages of cancer, offering more comfort, privacy and dignity. With the careful use of design, lighting and colour, the treatment area will be a more welcoming and calming environment and the new layout will offer more privacy to patients, space for family and friends to accompany patients during treatment, and practical working space for staff.
Together we can help give cancer patients a better experience and make a new, fit-for-the-future chemotherapy unit a reality.
The Charity would be pleased to hear from anyone interested in fundraising or working in partnership with the Charity to raise funds for all Cancer patients at East Lancashire Hospitals.
