Story
Central England Co-operative Supports Dementia UK
Our charity partner is Dementia UK, voted for by our colleagues in 2017. Dementia UK is the only national charity caring for the entire family of someone with dementia, through its specialist Admiral Nurses. The nurses can be found based in the community, hospitals and care homes. As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, people living with dementia need more support than ever. We want to continue to raise funds to provide more Admiral Nurses to help families through specialist, compassionate one-to-one support and via the Dementia Helpline at 0800 888 6678.
Registered charity no. 1039404.
Our Story
Central England Co-operative has supported Dementia UK since August 2017. Since then we have seen customers donating in our food stores, funeral homes and travel shops and colleagues undertaking a huge variety of activities to raise money for the charity. Fundraising efforts have ranged from going the extra mile with running and biking challenges, shaving heads to leaping headfirst from planes and swimming across lakes to enjoying tea and cakes.
In normal times, the only limit to colleagues fundraising efforts was how far their imagination could take them. With COVID-19 now a part of all our lives, many fundraising activities cannot take place safely. Fewer people are using cash when shopping and donations direct from customers have therefore declined. However, there are still many ways that you can support Dementia UKs vital work and so we have set up this Just Giving page to allow colleagues and customers to donate easily and safely.
To date we have contributed around over £1.4m. We aim raise a total of £1.5M.
We have directly funded 10 Admiral Nurses in 10 counties and supported hundreds of families nationwide who need advice and help from the Admiral Nurse Dementia Helpline.
Please help us to continue to provide more of the specialist help needed by families living with dementia and to reach the £1.5M milestone.
