Story
Our Cambridge Ramadan Appeal returns for 2023, seeking to raise emergency funds for local people who urgently need cost of living support.
The annual Ramadan fundraiser, which has run every year since 2021, aims to provide vital assistance to struggling Cambridge families and individuals who continue to experience difficulties in buying food, keeping their homes warm, and paying their energy bills.
With inflation rising during the UK cost of living crisis, households across the country have been faced with soaring energy costs and higher food prices in supermarkets.
"The Karim Foundation enters the third consecutive year of an effective working partnership with the Cambridge Ethnic Community Forum and Cambridge City Council," explains Shahida Rahman, Chair of the Board of Trustees.
"We continue to identify families and individuals who need help with living costs, and have also started to work with new partners in recent months. Resettle Chesterton is a local organisation that we've been supporting, and they have been helping to resettle a refugee family here in Cambridge."
Every Ramadan, Muslims around the world refrain from food and drink during daylight hours. While Muslims increase their worship through additional prayers and reading the Qur'an, giving charity to those in need is highly encouraged during this holy period.
Please support the Cambridge Ramadan Appeal by donating what you can, so that we can serve those in financial hardship. Your donations will help us to deliver essential food and fuel support to the most vulnerable in our communities. We remain fully committed to assisting people from all backgrounds.
Thank you for your kindness and generosity during these difficult times. We wish everyone observing Ramadan this year a safe, blessed and peaceful month.
Ramadan Kareem.
