Story
We are urgently trying to replace the obsolete computers in Calcutta Rescue's education centres in Kolkata, India, that are used by 650 children from the city's slums.
Some of the computers are 19 years old, they can't run modern software, they have multiple faults and it can take 15 minutes just to boot them up.
Schools in the city were allowed to fully reopen in February after two years of Covid restrictions, and now that they are finally back in the classroom we want to ensure that these young people can make the most of their remaining years in education.
Our dedicated teaching staff, led by Ananya Chatterjee, have twice been voted the most caring team of teachers in West Bengal (population 99 million).
But without up-to-date computers they simply wont be able to give their students, who all come from the most deprived backgrounds, access to all the exciting educational and employment opportunities that the digital world offers.
This appeal is to raise the money to buy the computers and software they need - and to get them installed without delay.
So please help give these bright children have a brighter future by making a donation now. Thank you!
