Story

Who are we?

Croydon RFC is a small community rugby club with a big history. For over 60 years we've held deep roots in New Addington, Croydon and the surrounding areas. Over those years; either through our players and extended family, the other sports clubs that use our facilities or the important occasions our function hall has hosted, we have been part of the lives of many and remain intertwined with the local community. For generations children and adults have called CRFC their home and the club members around them their family.

We are committed to continue providing the best rugby facilities for local children and adult, providing a club the community can be proud of.

What are we doing?

Over the course of the Six Nations tournament, we are running, walking or cycling the equivalent distance to every nations stadium without leaving our local areas. From Croydon RFC > Stadio Olimpico (Italy) > Stade De France (France) > Twickenham (England) > Principality Stadium (Wales) > Aviva Stadium (Ireland) > BT Murrayfield (Scotland) > Croydon RFC.

This totals 5890km or 140km a day.

Our squad will track their progress daily and will need to average around 7km each per day.

Every week the top contributors will make the team sheet for our 'Most Miles 1XV' where we will share our progress.

Why are we doing this challenge?

Like many clubs at grassroots level, Croydon RFC has had it's challenges over the last year. We all know and understand the toll that COVID has had on our nation. For a rugby club like ours, the strain isn't limited to club finances, where we've seen income come to a full stop. It also extends to the wellbeing and health of our members. For many the club is part of their DNA, a place to socialise, release and stay fit.

This challenge, as well as raising much needed club funds, is designed to bring us together when we must be apart. To motivate each other to the finish line, as we do for the try line on the pitch. To be a team and share the experience. To support our rugby family.

Help us raise £1 for every kilometre and be a part of it too.

Croydon Rugby Football Club is a registered Community Amateur Sports Club and an RFU Accredited Club.
