Story
CMT (Charcot-Marie-Tooth) is a hereditary condition that damages the peripheral nerves, which means that muscles become progressively weaker over time, particularly in the hands and feet. CMT UK is a small but national-reaching UK charity; we rely on fundraising donations, on top of our membership fees, to help us to provide essential services to our members and make health professionals more aware of the condition.
This year, charity donations have been affected by the coronavirus pandemic and the cancellation of fundraising events due to lockdown. This has resulted in a shortfall. The #CMTUKAppeal aims to raise £5,000 to help 'plug the gap'.
Can you help us? Please consider donating or fundraising to help us reach our goal. Thank you.
The #7DayActiveChallenge
It is really important for people living with CMT to exercise or keep active (within their own limits), to maintain their muscle mass. We have set up this challenge to help towards keeping active whilst fundraising towards the #CMTUKAppeal. The aim is to complete 7 days of activity or exercise between 1st July - 31st October 2020. For example, you could look to achieve a set number of steps, or take part in particular exercises over the 7 days, such as walking, chair-based exercises, or even yoga!
Are you up for the #7DayActiveChallenge?
This is how you can get involved (as an individual, family or a team):
1. Keep active for 7 days, any time between 1st July 31st October.
2. Activities can include anything from walking, yoga or chair-based exercises. You choose what activity is right for you, based on your own fitness level and ability...
3. We would love to see how you get on! Post your challenge pics on social media using the hashtag #7DayActiveChallenge or #CMTUKAppeal
4. Everyone is welcome to take part. So we can track all the fundraising in one place, click on the orange START FUNDRAISING button to set up your own JustGiving page (linked to this campaign)
5. Then select the 'taking part in an event' option; then select the '7DayActiveChallenge' event. Feel free to edit your page to update your text and image (you may wish to add in your chosen activity over the 7 days). Also, please tick the box in order for us to keep in touch with you (so we can arrange to send you a thank you gift if you have raised £25 or more)
GOOD LUCK and have FUN! We are excited to find out about your fundraising activities!

Disclaimer:
Please make sure you are physically able to take part in the #7DayActiveChallenge and set your own safe, realistic goal and activity. Please do not feel any pressure to keep active for 7 consecutive days; keeping active for 7 days spread over a longer period is absolutely fine. Please follow the government lockdown and social distancing guidelines. Please check with a suitable medical professional before carrying out exercise.
