Story
Whether its ourselves or our loved ones, cancer touches us all at some point in our lives. With 14 young people aged 15-29 being diagnosed with cancer every day in the UK, early education is an absolute necessity. At CATTs we are committed to providing all young people with comprehensive awareness workshops covering signs and symptoms, self-examination, and communicating health concerns.
However, due to these uncertain times, our ability as a charity to continue providing this essential service hangs in the balance. The pandemic has had a damaging impact on the charity sector, with huge reductions of income and the inability to offer face to face activities affecting our fundraising and work.
The pandemic has also had a devastating impact on the health sector, with the NHS seeing a 75% drop in cancer referrals; Less people are choosing to report their symptoms to a doctor, be it from not knowing how to spot the signs, or not wanting to add pressure to the NHS.
Whilst we adapted as a team to compensate for these challenging times such as taking our workshops, recruitment and fundraising digital, these changes alone are not enough to sustain us. Thats why we need your help.
At CATTs, we are 100% dedicated to a future for all young people across the UK to have access to essential health education and practical support, so cancer can be detected earlier. With your support, we can continue to deliver vital cancer awareness resources, and nurture a new generation of health-empowered young people.
