Story
Our bumblebees have consistently provided us with a free service - pollination. We need to pay them back by making more space for them in our world.
Pollinators, and in particular our wild bees, play a vital role in our lives. They make it possible for us to grow crops such as fruit and vegetables, and to enjoy thriving parks, our gardens, and the wider natural landscape. Without them, our diets, our health and our lives would be less rich, and our food scarce, expensive, and with much less variety.
The Bumblebee Conservation Trust is playing an important role in turning around the well-documented decline in our bumblebees. We are creating an environment where bumblebees are valued and thrive, and we're asking for your support to continue that work.
Our eating habits are destroying the environment. And this in turn threatens our food security. The next big shock to our food supply will almost certainly be caused by climate change, in the form of extreme weather events and catastrophic harvest failures. Agriculture alone produces 10% of UK greenhouse gas emissions, despite constituting less than 1% of our Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
Insects contribute over £700 million per annum to the UK economy and in doing so prop up the £108 billion per year food and drink industry in Britain. Lets pay them back!
We need everyone to value nature, respect it, be inspired through it, and experience the health and wellbeing benefits from just being in it. Bumblebees are the iconic species that can inspire more people to take transformative action and with your help we can make that happen.
We need to develop and run even more successful projects this year, and your donation will help us continue our work with farmers, support our volunteers and build our staff team; without our core staff, the Trust would be like a house without foundations.
We would love you to help us make more space for bumblebees by donating to our cause, to be part of changing our world for the better by putting a bumblebee in everyone's heart. We know it's been a challenging year but, with your help, we can get our buzz back.
With many thanks
