Story

Bridport & West Sports Trust have owned and operated Bridport Leisure Centre since 1974 and during this time has become an important community hub, providing a wide range of recreational facilities and activities for the people of West Dorset. Our overall aim is to enhance the quality of life for the whole community.

We are a single site charitable trust, who operate as a strictly not for profit organisation, with any surplus bring put back in to improving the facilities for our members and visitors.

We offer a wide range of facilities and classes, that are aimed at all sectors of the community. Ranging from pre-natal classes, from toddlers to teens, a wide variety of fitness classes and classes aimed specifically at the elderly or infirm, not forgetting our fitness suite and swimming pool.

The Bridport Leisure Centre team are committed to promoting health and well-being to all sectors of the community. Our community focus goes much further, we also see ourselves as an essential community hub for people to meet, socialise and forge life long friendships.

Unfortunately along with the majority of local businesses, Bridport Leisure Centre were forced to close its doors on Saturday 21st March 2020, due to the Coronavirus crisis.

Even though we are closed, the health and well-being of our members and followers remains a priority.

To ensure our members can maintain their fitness during these unexplored times, we have set-up a number of online workouts and fitness classes - all for free that members or followers of Bridport Leisure Centre can enjoy.

Bridport Leisure Centre are doing their utmost to support not only their members but also their staff in these unprecedented times. They are not alone in their concern, regarding the loss of income.

When the closure of the centre was announced a large number of members showed a wish to continue supporting the centre financially through this tough time. Many offered to continue paying their membership, however as a charity this is not a viable option.

Instead we have decided to set-up this Just Giving page, for those who would like to support our community leisure centre.

Bridport Leisure Centre hope to open their doors again as soon as possible, but in the meantime they would like to thank all of their members and the whole community for their continued support.
