Story

Right now, as a charity we are not able to do any in-person events in the UK as we would have done, due to Coronavirus. In Belarus, this is not the situation and events are still happening. Between the 9th and 11th October The Bison Race is taking place and yesterday we heard that a team of 6 Belarusians have chosen to support The Together Plan in this competition! This is incredibly exciting and a real testament to our work in the country and it is exciting to see Belarusians feeling motivated and empowered enough to step up and create awareness for our work on the ground where the need is.

The Bison race is the first extreme obstacle run in Belarus. It is a 5km race with 25 natural and artificial highly challenging obstacles. The Bison Race will help you to discover your basic survival instincts. It is extreme, cross-country and hard.

Words from the team:

"Bison run reflects our everyday life as we have to overcome our obstacles and difficulties everyday. Clear Sky is a team of 6 participants from a different backgrounds and professions. Journalists, IT, firefighters, make up artists and they have chosen to run in support of the work of the The Together Plan to help popularize Belarus Jewish heritage within the project of the European Routes of Jewish Heritage. Despite the very tough current situation in Belarus and around the world, together we can overcome difficulties , support each other and become closer to each other under difficult circumstances. We love the ethos of the charity when they say 'Together We are stronger.'"

Vitaliy Pashkovskiy (firefighter) my job is to help people in difficult situations and fight with fire. I run for The Together Plan today because what they do coincides with my vision and my everyday life. I value team spirit and support of one another.

Tatyana Agafonova (make up artist) my job is to help people to be beautiful, but real beauty is inside. I have chosen to run today to support the work of The Together Plan because their projects are beautiful both outside and inside, because they make people happy and unite them around important goals. I am proud to be a volunteer of the Together Plan and be a part of an amazing team of volunteers. Today we will run through fire, mud and water. It will be difficult and tough, but at the finish line of the race we will be the most cool and beautiful team because we have a goal.

The Together Plan is a UK charity dedicated to the rehabilitation, repair and revival of Jewish communities coming out of collective trauma in the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, enabling, rather than providing, through a self-help approach. In spite of the traumatic past, there are many who yearn to reconnect with their lost identity. It is the mission of The Together Plan charity, to help those Jews still living in the region learn how to rebuild their communities, and also to reconnect those in the diaspora to their ancestry and the homes they left behind. The Together Plan is playing a vital and much needed role in the repair and renewal process for a better connected and meaningful Jewish future for Jews everywhere. We send humanitarian aid and resources that reach Jewish and non-Jewish communities throughout Belarus and our community work helps to bring Jewish and non-Jewish people together for a better civil society.
