Story

Welcome to Birmingham Optical's fundraising page!

Our chosen charity is the Childhood Eye Cancer Trust (CHECT), the only UK charity dedicated to helping those affected by retinoblastoma.

Retinoblastoma is a fast growing and aggressive cancer of the eye, affecting babies and young children mainly under the age of six. While survival rates are good, at 98%, around half of children will have an eye removed to stop the cancer from spreading.

We are proud that Birmingham Optical has supported CHECT for many years, working with their team to raise awareness and funds to help them continue their vital work.

The charity:

Provides support and information to families and individuals.

Funds research into the prevention and treatment of retinoblastoma.

Raises awareness among health professionals and the public.

Influences policy to improve services for patients.

CHECT offers support to every family in the UK following a diagnosis of retinoblastoma, and provides lifelong support to anyone affected from diagnosis, through teenage years and into adulthood.

As a small charity CHECT receives no government funding and relies on the kindness of others, to provide their services.

Look out for different events and ways that Team Birmingham Optical will be raising funds for this wonderful charity.

Thank you!

We have supported CHECT for a number of years and we are still continuing to build awareness & raise money.
