Story
Beechley Stables opened its gates in 1989 and after threat of closure, the Trustees took over the running of the entire facility in 2014. Whilst previously run by the local authority, the centre has always operated as a result of the passion, commitment and generosity of our staff, volunteers and the local community. As a result of Covid-19, we have had to close our gates to the public.
Beechley provides a safe haven for many of our riders and volunteers, where acceptance and nurture is in abundance. Without Beechley, many individuals and families would lose the vital opportunity to take exercise and therapy; would not experience a sense of achievement and freedom. As a parent of a rider I can make this statement, but don't just take it from me!
As a parent of a disabled child, who unfortunately hasn't a choice of too many hobbies, it's fantastic to find a hobby...that [she] can actually enjoy and fully participate in. The staff and volunteers are amazing.....[her] hips were slightly out of joint....on her last visit [to the hospital] they were much better. (Parent)
Simply put, it is a magical and special place for all involved. We are a family made up of a great team of staff, volunteers, riders, parents/carers, and not to mention the horses and ponies! Beechley may be a small team but we make a big impact on everyone involved" (Ellie, Volunteer)
You all do an amazing job....staff/volunteers are caring, passionate, and show great empathy to our TLC friends and family affected by dementia." (Smile & Experience TLC supporting those affected by dementia)
