*** UPDATE MARCH 2021 - Alhamdullilah we have managed to raise approximately £60,000 towards the building of the Al Taqwa Masjid to date - a huge first step towards this amazing goal ***

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)., said, Whoever builds a masjid for Allah, then Allah will build for him a house like it in Paradise.

Build a masjid in this world and build your palace in Jannah just as the Blessed Prophet (PBUH). helped to build the first masjid in Medina.

This project is being led by Shaykh Aboulaye Sawadogo. He began his studies at the age of 7 in Burkina Faso, acquiring the Arabic language for a period of 10 years. At the age of 17, he travelled to Tunisia to memorise the Quran at Madrasah Umar Ibn al-Khattab. At the age of 23, he decided to further his studies in Damascus, Syria at University Shaykh Ahmad Kaftaro Academy. Here he received a degree in Arabic after 4 years of study. Here Shaykh studied under Shaykh Bassam Ijik, Dr Sulayman Wahabi, Shaykh Umar Sabbagh rahimahullah and Shaykh Muhammad Adnan Afyouni rahimahullah.

The next four years, Shaykh furthered his knowledge at Masjid Shaykh Muhiyideen ibn al-Arabi in Damascus, under the tutelage of Shaykh Samir al-Nass, Shaykh Anas Hibri and Shaykh Mahir Munajjid. He received ijazah and a chain of transmission back to the Prophet () in all of the ten styles of recitation.

He didnt stop here, Shaykh continued his drive for knowledge and studied Hadith under Shaykh Naeem Arksusi in Jamia al-Imaan in Damascus. Shaykh Abdoulaye also benefitted immensely from Shaykh Hassan al-Hindi, Shaykh Ramadan al-Bouti rahimahullah, Shaykh Muhammad Khayr Shaal. He received ijazah in Sahih Bukhari.

The project aims to provide a permanent Education environment and Masjid that will be vital role in bringing the community together and improving the lives of future generations. The School will provide Formal Education facilities, Quranic and Arabic studies. We aim to offer people from all social and religious backgrounds to beneft from this safe, inclusive environment especially orphans and destitute children who will require regular support through sponsorship programmes

The name Burkina Faso, which means Land of Incorruptible People". Islam came to prominence here via traders and later through soldiers returning from World War I who had joined North African conscripts to fight under French Forces.

Due to severe poverty and lack of facilities, many families sacrificed their lands to send their children to seek education within the African region and beyond. The dream and desire of these returning students is to reinvest this knowledge and cultivate a modern learning enviroment to educate and empower young people to create a better future for themselves.

After much effort and sacrifice , land was bought and secured and architectural plans have been developed (see gallery photos) for the school and masjid to be constructed. Tree saplings have been planted around the land to provide an ecological environment and clean air for everyone.

Due to the huge influx of awaiting students and demand for eductation from surrounding areas, the need to build a large school and masjid is a key project undertaken by Sacred Giving to serve the needs of the population.

Sacred Giving has already been actively involved for several years in Burkino Faso, supporting regular charity programmes. These have been Water Well projects, Qurbani organising and regular food distribution , building small classrooms, and Eid Gift projects. We are also looking at providing sustainable development projects for local communities to become self sufficent regarding food and water resources.
