Story
The devastating impact of the CV19 Crisis on our older population has been well documented, and their safety, health and wellbeing is of considerable concern. Since March, Age UK research shows that 1 in 3 older people agree that their anxiety is worse, whilst 9% of older people think their lives will never return to normal.
Age UK Lewisham and Southwark (AUKLS) have been working hard since March to provide vital services and support to some of the most vulnerable older people in our local community. We have made over 15,000 hot meal deliveries, over 2,200 shops and grocery deliveries, over 5,000 welfare calls to 3,000 members, delivered hundreds of free activity packs, gifted 50 free mobiles to older people without one, and continued to provide vital Information and Advice services over the phone.
Dear Age UK Lewisham and Southwark, just to say thank you for your letter. The activity book is brilliant I enjoy doing the daily exercises!
The effects of Winter, the cold and ongoing shielding will make this time of year particularly difficult for our clients. AUKLS will be working hard throughout this Winter period to continue to support our clients, and spread some much-needed festive cheer, but we need your support to do this.
No matter how big or small, your donation is vital to our work.
£5 could pay for a vital shop and grocery delivery from the Food2You service
£10 could pay for a phone top-up for an older person, ensuring they can maintain contact with their family, friends and services
£35 could pay for an hour of the HandyPerson service, to help keep a person safe in their home throughout winter
Thank you for thinking of me...really nice to hear someone's voice. Its taken a weight off my mind
