Story

We are launching our 25 days of Good Deeds Christmas campaign and are asking the local community to join them in making the festive period more joyful for hundreds of older people in Lambeth who find this time of year to be challenging and often lonely.

With the ongoing effects of the pandemic coupled with the sharp increase in the cost of living, we need your support more than ever to continue our work throughout Lambeth Borough. Our services are incredibly important all year round, but particularly during the Christmas period, when feelings of loneliness and isolation are increased by TV shows and adverts depicting bustling families and merriment.

We know that many people will be feeling the pinch financially this year more than ever, due to the current cost of living crisis. So with this in mind we have created our very first 25 day Good Deed Calendar, starting on 1st December. This means that this year if you are unable to donate to our campaign you can still get involved by carrying out your own good deed to help spread compassion and kindness. We will be sharing daily good deeds for inspiration on our social media, so keep an eye out for our life sized calendar!

To get involved we will be running a 25-day good deed challenge where you can be sponsored to do one good deed everyday in December up to Christmas Day. Check out our website for more details about how to sign up.

If you are able to donate, your support would be hugely appreciated.

- £15.00 could help pay for one of our HandyFix team to help make adaptations in someones home

- £40.00 could pay for a tutor for an exercise class to help keep people moving

- £80 could pay to run one of our Magnolia Clubs, these are attended by residents of Lambeth who have dementia

We are running our MY Ho Ho Ho Christmas meal offer again, in which volunteers deliver a free Christmas meal to a local resident. You donations will go towards helping us provide these meals and goodie bags for everyone receiving a meal.

We will also continue to run events throughout the Christmas season via MYsocial and your donations will help towards keep these going!

Your donations will also help keep our vital services running throughout the year, not just at Christmas.

To see all the ways you can get involved in our Christmas campaign, please visit our website. By supporting Age UK Lambeth you will help us tackle loneliness this Christmas and ensure that we can continue to provide the much needed support to the older residents of Lambeth.

We hope you are able to join us this year, in whatever capacity that might be!
