We are a team of 20 individuals consisting of dental students and dentists all from Detroit Mercy's ASDA (American Student Dental Association) chapter, and we're seeking out your help in helping us provide free dental care to an underserved community in Guatemala.
This August we will be returning to the Guatemalan highlands, and staying in the town of Chichicastenango for a week. This is an area that is plagued by hardship and severe poverty. We expect to see over 300 children and adults, with the majority arriving with excruciating pain that has hindered their ability to eat and sleep. Dental work we provide involves relieving pain through extractions, fillings, cleanings, and fluoride treatments. Additionally, we'll be visiting nearby schools to spend time with students to educate proper oral hygiene techniques and to provide them with toothbrushes, toothpaste and floss.

Our team feels extremely grateful for an opportunity to serve an underprivileged community. Unfortunately, this comes at a price. We are required to completely fund this trip (flights, transportation, lodging) and provide all supplies. The cost of necessary expenses quickly add up. As dental students, debt is of major concern, so managing and saving money is crucial. Your support would mean the world to us and we look forward to updating everyone along the way to show you just how much you have helped the people of Chichicastenango. Thank you in advance for your generosity!
