Story

On August 4 a warehouse in Beirut port exploded, destroying buildings around it and making 300,000 people homeless.

The big guys like UN and Red Cross are there but we at Ashtead Rotary wanted to find a way to help where our funds would be more than a drop in the bucket, so we are raising funds for SARAID a small but specialist UK based charity that is providing expert volunteers (Engineers and Technicians) to help with the emergency response and rebuilding programme.

Volunteers have been in Beirut carrying out building damage assessments. They are raising funds so they can return to train and support others with this immense task,

ARC is donating at least £500 from our now limited funds on behalf of the people of Ashtead who support our work. Help us increase this by making a donation to our campaign and dont forget to Gift Aid it if you are a UK taxpayer.

S.A.R.A.I.D is a British Emergency Response charity dedicated to trying to save the lives of innocent victims of disaster, as well as relieving human suffering around the world regardless of colour, creed, religion and political persuasion. Registered Charity Number: 1101593
