Story
As a first-generation Asian American, I was brought up through the values of perseverance and finishing what you start by my family. They taught me early on that obtaining the American Dream takes hard work and determination. --Austin Lam, HCC Foundation Scholarship Recipient
The Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) Scholarship Fund provides scholarships for students of Asian American or Pacific Islander ancestry with financial need who are enrolled at Houston Community College (HCC).
Established by HCC Trustee Dr. Cynthia Lenton-Gary, District VII, in collaboration with former HCC trustee Neeta Sane and the ASPIRE (Asian Scholarship Program Inspiring Results & Excellence) Network, the scholarship fund supports educational pursuits and achievements of HCC students.
There is a myth that all Asian Americans are well off. However, there are many Asian-American and Pacific Islander students who go through financial struggles during their educational journey at HCC and cannot afford books, tuition or even food. Therefore, our goal is to ensure that all Asian-American and Pacific Islander students at HCC have the opportunity to pursue their studies and achieve their potential.
Your gift to the AAPI Scholarship Fund will open doors to educational opportunities. Your gift is an investment in HCC student success and Houston's Community College.
All gifts are welcome and make a difference!

Did you know?
More than any other college, HCC's student population matches the diversity of Houston. As a designated federally recognized Minority Serving Institution, HCCs student body is 85% minority (Hispanic, African American, Asian, and Other) and is acknowledged as one of the most diverse institutions of higher education in the nation.
Scholarships make a Difference
Each of you who gives so generously on behalf of our students is making a difference. Together, we make life-changing dreams come true on a daily basis!
The results in performance and persistence reflect this impact.
Recipients of scholarships from the HCC Foundation achieve an average GPA nearly a half-point higher than the College-wide average GPA, and they are completing more courses. Our scholarship students also persist at notably higher rates than the overall HCC average and are twice as likely to move on to completion.
These positive results are made possible with the support that our friends and donors in the community provide. Thank You!
