Story
We aim to raise enough money through our 70s run to make a difference to 70 people who are living with lung cancer and in need of financial help.
In addition to the distress of having lung cancer, many patients are also faced with financial concerns and difficulties, causing even further stress and anxiety. This has been exacerbated in the current economic climate, particularly for many older people with lung cancer who are facing depleted pension funds.
Our financial grants offer a little bit of relief for those living with lung cancer. Grants are awarded to patients in need of immediate financial assistance to help with the implications a lung cancer diagnosis often brings, such as:
- Increased heating bills
- Practical needs - such as wheelchairs, stair lifts and extra bedding
- Increased travel costs to and from hospital
- New clothing as a result a weight loss
- Respite from gruelling treatment such as trips away with loved ones
If we hit our target of £10,500, it could fund 70 of our patient grants, which will make a real difference to people who need our help right now.
