Story
As part of Celtic FC Foundation's 2017 #LionsLegacy fundraising campaign, the Foundation undertook a joint venture with Mary's Meals, to build 67 Kitchens in Africa; 47 in Malawi and 20 in Zambia.
Thanks initially to the incredible support of the Celtic Family and subsequently so many Kitchen Sponsors in the form of CSCs, Supporters' Associations and individuals across the globe - The 67 Kitchens are now fully operational and are collectively helping to feed in excess of 53,000 children each and every school day, throughout Malawi and Zambia.
We are now delighted to confirm that, in partnership with Mary's Meals, we have created a second phase of this hugely successful initiative. This offers an opportunity for all Kitchen Sponsors to continue their engagement by fundraising or making a donation towards the annual cost of feeding children at these 67 schools. This further enhances, develops and cements the legacy of the Lisbon Lions through the 67 Kitchens Project.
Mary's Meals serves nutritious school meals to children living in some of the world's poorest countries. The promise of a good meal attracts these hungry children into the classroom, giving them the energy to learn and hope for a better future.
The cost to feed one child with Mary's Meals for an entire school year is £15.90 and the annual cost to maintain the feeding programme at the schools in which these 67 Kitchens are located, is close to £852,000.
For Phase II, we have humbly invited Sponsors - who are in a position to do so - to contribute towards an ongoing 67 Kitchens Feeding Fund. There is no minimum fundraising requirement/donation and any contribution will be invaluable. For every £15.90 raised or donated, one child will be provided with a meal each school day, for an entire year via our 67 Kitchens.
Thank you for your wonderful support.
