Now in its second year, this event was initially created in 2020 following the suicide of Sam Wall. With the U.K on the brink of another lockdown and with the devastating news of Sam's death, friend and fellow figure in the hair industry, Ky Wilson wanted to bring those who knew Sam together in the hope to provide support, comfort and help others to know that they are not alone.
The event in November 2020 quickly gathered momentum and those who took part raised an incredible £15,000 for 'Movember'. This year Ky has chosen to raise money for The Lions Barber Collective with Sam having been a much-loved, active member of the pride and dear friend of the charity's CEO and Founder, Tom Chapman.
This year Ky hopes to beat last years total and once again bring people together to remember Sam and all those who have been lost to suicide.
The Lions Barber Collective was founded in 2015 by Tom Chapman following the suicide of a close friend. The charity aims to raise awareness of mental-wellbeing and suicide prevention. The Lions Barber Collective train those in the hair and beauty industry how to recognise the signs of declining mental health in their clients and how to signpost to vital support services in the hope of preventing suicide.
