Story
Dave (our Beckenham Treatment Centre Manager) and his intrepid team of Gordon Moody staff, former service users and family and friends affected by gambling harm are taking on the 3 Peaks Challenge.
Originally planned for 2021 to help celebrate 50 years of Gordon Moody, the event had to be postponed and will now take place 7th-10th April 2022.
The team are still well up for the challenge! They want to raise awareness of gambling addiction (which is often referred to as the hidden addiction) as well as raise funds that ensure Gordon Moody can deliver services that mean all those affected by gambling-related harm can access the right help, at the right time.
We asked Dave what inspired him to take on the 3 peaks challenge...
To help celebrate GMs 50th birthday we are attempting the Three Peaks Challenge of climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon, the three highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales. Whilst it can be done in 24 hours we are aiming to do it over two days, hence our 50 hours slogan. This should mean that anyone who wishes to take part can do so and we will all get up and down ok, assisted by experienced guides. It is a huge logistical task but one that is well worth taking on for the individual and collective euphoria that will come as we descend Snowdon and say we took on the Three Peaks Challenge and we won.
Gordon Moody provides unique treatment in a safe, supported environment for those severely affected by gambling harm. Proceeds from the challenge will support Gordon Moody's general charitable activities that help fund their often life-saving services that support people to reclaim and rebuild their lives free from gambling addiction.
The costs of the event, including engaging a specialist company to safely run the 3 Peaks Challenge and the costs of participating in the challenge are being supported by a donation from Playtech.
