Story

Canterbury Oast Trust's 40th Anniversary Music Festival!

Canterbury Oast Trust became a registered charity in 1985 in answer to a real need to provide a different type of care from that which was available in the mid-80s for people living with a learning disability.

Our founders, many of whom are still involved with the charity today, were mainly parents who wished for their adult children to have the opportunity, and the right, to live their own independent lives.

That ethos continues to this day. In honour of those early pioneers, the innovations that followed, and the amazing people we support, we held a series of workshops. We asked those we support how they would like to celebrate this important milestone and they have spoken. They want to celebrate in style!

To mark our 40th anniversary as a registered charity, we’re planning an unforgettable Music Festival, complete with 80s-themed fancy dress, a cake competition, and a fabulously entertaining wish list of activities. And we need YOUR help to make it happen! Here’s what we’re hoping to arrange:

Friday, 5th September 2025: An exclusive private party for the people we support, along with their friends, family, staff, and supporters.

Saturday, 6th September 2025: A vibrant, public festival full of music, fun, and community spirit.

To bring this celebration to life, we’re hoping you can help us. The wish list of those we support is somewhat vast and includes live music and entertainers, a tethered hot air balloon, catering and bars, prizes for competition winners and karaoke.

Any donation you can give to help us reach our goal of financing all of these wish list items will be greatly appreciated by everyone at COT, especially those we support!
