Story

FINAL UPDATE on June 11, 2021: Thanks to your generosity, we raised over $95,000 in celebration of 40 years of impact. We are absolutely blown away by your support.

UPDATE 7:11 am on June 8, 2021: Thanks to an anonymous donor, our match is extended to $20,000!

A determined group of women from The Junior League of Atlanta, Inc. saw a need for a stable, safe environment for youth in foster care and stepped up to fill the gap by founding CHRIS 180. On June 8, 1981, CHRIS 180, then known as CHARLEE, opened the doors of its first foster home.

40 years later, CHRIS 180 has grown to fill the gaps in our community through therapy and counseling services, community programs including wraparound support, foster care, adoptions, safe homes for youth and families, and more. Together, we are healing children, adults and families from trauma and helping them to change the directions of their lives. We have changed more than 100,000 lives and with your support, we will continue to impact many more.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of women pivotal to the founding of CHRIS 180, every gift up to $10,000 made by midnight on June 8 will be matched dollar-for-dollar.

Now is your chance to make a lasting difference in the lives of children, adults and families in our community. Make a fundraising page and share the word! With your help, we will continue to help our neighbors find safety and healing.

How to get going:

1. Click on the Start Fundraising button.

2. Make an account, then create and customize your "40 for More" fundraising page with your own goal, picture and a story about why CHRIS 180 is important to you. We have set a target fundraising goal of $1,000, but you can get ambitious and aim for more! Information about how to set up your page is available here and sample scripts to help with your fundraising are here.

3. Set an example by giving to your own campaign. People you ask are much likelier to give when they see you have already made a donation!

4. Share your fundraising page with your family, friends, neighbors and colleagues. Ask that they join you in supporting CHRIS 180s work with a donation, which will go twice as far on June 8 thanks to our $10,000 match!
