Story
By joining the movement to end slavery, you are changing the lives of people like Crisitina*
Cristina* was trafficked to the UK from Romania by an acquaintance who promised her a good job and a better life.
Cristina was made to live in appalling accommodation, asked to have sex with men, and sell drugs. When she courageously refused, Cristina was drugged, physically abused and held captive for several months, while being exploited for sex and other criminal activities.
Cristina bravely escaped, but found herself homeless all the while experiencing mental health problems.
When Cristina reached out to Hope for Justice, they discovered she had reported her exploitation, but her case had slipped through the system.
Hope for Justice helped Cristina secure accommodation, food and other essentials. They supported her application to become officially recognised as a modern slavery survivor. The successful result entitled Cristina to financial support, and counselling.
Cristina is now safe, far from her traffickers, and beginning to recover.
