Help Us Create 10,000 Soaper Star Packs This Global Handwashing Day

On 15 October 2026, Global Handwashing Day, Germ's Journey and De Montfort University will bring together volunteers, schools, students, healthcare professionals and community partners to assemble 10,000 Soaper Star packs for children and families across the UK.

Each pack contains engaging educational resources and practical hygiene products designed to help children understand hand hygiene, infection prevention and healthy behaviours.

Importantly, we know these resources make a difference.

A clinical trial study, involving more than 300 children, found that Soaper Star educational resources increased children's knowledge of infection transmission and hand hygiene, with learning retained for at least four weeks after participation. The study also demonstrated a 38% increase in hand hygiene compliance when Soaper Star products were used.

Thanks to the generosity of sponsors *Pfizer, Metis Health, Elipse Health, Cheeky Panda, Knowlex, the Worshipful Company of Environmental Cleaners, Supra Perfecta, Project Merchandise, and Safer Spaces, the packs are being produced and assembled.
