Story
The 31-Day Challenge for Change is a fundraising drive led by us - MRCI team and community members.
We are taking on a personal daily challenge to raise much-needed funds for MRCI who aren't able to run their usual annual fundraising events, such as the mini-marathon and gala that have been cancelled due to Covid-19.
What is MRCI?
From the start, MRCI's work has been led by people, like us, affected by the very issues we fight against - exploitation, injustice, and racism - supported by countless allies from across Ireland and beyond.
MRCI has supported groups of workers when their employers abandoned them, documented racism on our streets and at our borders, won landmark victories for domestic workers, victims of forced labour, students, undocumented workers, families, and young people.
It is a hub for late-night campaign meetings, a second home for some of Ireland's most dedicated activists, and a safe place for people at their lowest moments.
During Covid-19, people from a migrant background have been working on the frontline, in essential roles, often in exploitative and discriminatory conditions.
What's next?
The work in the coming months and years could shape the face of migration and work in Ireland for generations. With a focus on collective action, organisation, and innovation, we can build stronger communities, better workplaces, and a fairer, more just society for all.
Together, we can make that happen.
How can I help?
We are putting on our running shoes, getting on our bikes, and getting our groove on every day for the month of July. You'll find us doing 5km a Day; cycling 'to Paris'; trying yoga for the first time and more! All to raise funds for this awesome organisation.
MRCI believes everyone should be able to move in safety and work with dignity. This work is needed now, more than ever.
We need your support.
Any amount you give will go straight to enabling people with barriers stacked against them to campaign for their rights, fighting for regularisation for people who are undocumented, tackling exploitation in the agri-food sector, empowering young people to raise their voices, and supporting people one-to-one to access their rights through MRCI's Drop-In Centre.
Thank you.
