It's the end of term and it has been another busy and rewarding school year! In our 30th anniversary year, we are so proud of the achievements of all the children we have supported through our Literacy Lab programme and their progress in closing their literacy gap. Thoughts now turn to the long summer holidays but here at The Children's Literacy Charity we are working hard to make sure we can support as many disadvantaged children as we can when the new school year starts in September.

Imagine for a moment, not being able to enjoy reading a book on your summer holidays this year, or struggling with the words on each page. Our intervention transforms lives and children will be enjoying a book for the first time this summer because of our life-changing literacy work. For every one month of our expert tuition, children make over five months of progress.

However, many children continue to struggle to catch up with the time lost during Covid and lockdowns. All the evidence has shown that disadvantaged children have suffered disproportionately and schools tell us more children than ever before need our specialist tuition if they are to make progress and catch up to where they should be.
