Story
Whatever your age and ability you can join the nationwide 2.6 Challenge from Sunday 26th April and help us weather the COVID-19 storm! How can you take part? All you need to do is think of an activity based around the numbers 26 or 2.6 and complete it on or from Sunday 26th April.
For example you could hop 26 times, do 26 sit ups in your lounge, bake 26 cupcakes, do 26 minutes of gardening, run / walk / cycle 2.6 kms or put on some music and dance for 26 minutes - to name a few! For more ideas click here - Activity Pack.
Once you've chosen your 2.6 challenge you can create your own fundraising page for TVAP and encourage your friends and family to make a donation or donate directly using this justgiving page. To create your own fundraiser in support of TVAP please click the orange button below.
Next complete your challenge and inspre your friends, family and colleagues to do the same by sharing pictures and videos of your challenge on social media. Don't forget to use the official hashtag #TwoPointSixChallenge and tag us (@tvap_charity) on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter!
The Covid-19 pandemic has had a catastrophic effect with the cancellation of thousands of events and the loss of billions in income through fundraising events. The London Marathon alone, which should have taken place on Sunday 26 April, is the worlds biggest one-day fundraising event, which raised more than £66.4 million for thousands of charities in 2019.
The pandemic has resulted in a reduction in income for us here at TVAP due to decreased receipt of donations and the temporary closure of the playground which has led to a lack of user contributions, in addition to a lack of fundraising events. Whilst we are hopeful our events will proceed at a later date, due to the playground closure and lack of funds, it is becoming increasingly difficult to raise the money needed to continue to support the children and adults with special needs that usually visit us.
Thank you for understanding that as a small charity we need your support, now more than ever, to get through this difficult time.
A bit about us:
Since 1982 Thames Valley Adventure Playground (a Registered Charity no. 278336) has supported children & adults with all types of special need, and their families and carers, by offering not only a specially adapted safe place to play and share experiences in a stimulating and therapeutic environment but by also providing opportunities, respite breaks and advice to those from the 33 counties that seek help annually.
