Story
24 Hours. 8 Hubs. One Mission: To Change the Narrative on Dementia.
On Friday, 26 June, Nick Shaw is taking to the floor for a non-stop, 24-hour Dance-a-thon across Stockport. 💃✨
Working alongside Life Leisure, Nick’s journey will see him visit every leisure hub in Stockport.
From high-energy spin classes to midnight raves, the music won’t stop until Nick completes his epic 24-hour circuit on Saturday morning.
Why are we dancing? 🧠This challenge follows our Dance Against Dementia campaign, where our community logged an incredible 5,668 dances. We were dancing in protest against the removal of the dementia diagnosis target from the NHS Operational Planning Guidance for 2025-26.While we are raising vital funds, our primary goal is awareness. We want to change the conversation around dementia. A diagnosis is life-changing, but it isn’t the end of the story, we believe you can live well, stay active, and keep dancing with dementia.
