Story

Richard Condie, our Estates Manager was the driving force behind the Society's involvement in the 24 Peaks Challenge. Following his sad passing in April, his son Mike has taken up the mantle and is organising events and activities to raise funds for the gruelling test of endurance taking place in July.

The Royal Alfred will be sending two teams to complete the challenge and have pledged £8,000 to The Seafarers' Charity who give grants to maritime charities such as ourselves who bring truly life-changing impact for many who work or have worked at sea, and their families.

About the charity

We have been providing housing, residential and nursing care to former seafarers, their widows and dependants for more than 150 years. Our residential and nursing care home, Belvedere House, together with our sheltered flats, is situated within idyllic grounds near Banstead, Surrey.
