Jamie Carragher's 23 Foundation is raising funds to support local charities and community groups across Merseyside that help children and youth projects and those most in need. Managed by Community Foundation for Merseyside.
Founded by the former Liverpool FCs number 23, Jamie Carragher, the 23 Foundation seeks to provide the youth of Merseyside with the means to make a difference in society by giving them an outlet through sport and education. Jamie set up the 23 Foundation, with the advice and support of the Community Foundation for Merseyside, at the beginning of 2009 in order to provide grants to young people in local communities. Funds raised from his September 2010 testimonial saw the endowment fund grow to over £1 million, securing the foundations long-term charitable work.
The 23 Foundation seeks to provide the youth of Merseyside with the means to make a difference in society by giving them an outlet through sport and education. It aims to fund projects that tackle the cause of youth disadvantage and provide information, education and skills to empower young people to go on to further education or employment. The fund will also support projects that improve children and young peoples health. Additionally, the fund will support groups that are directly working to support people who are experiencing homelessness and facing real poverty.
The 23 Foundation believes that what makes the difference is working together to achieve so much more, whether you're in business or playing for a top premiership side and that's why the foundation actively encourages businesses and individuals to get involved and, if that's not possible, make a generous donation.
