Story

James' son George contracted meningitis in December 2021, and has been left permanently deaf.

"I knew nothing about Meningitis, I knew something about a rash and a glass and that was it symptoms that George did not have and here in lies the problem thousands of people die each year, often because the symptoms are not understood in our case our only symptom was lethargy... but there are so many more."

So in August 2022 James and friend Gaz will be taking on a big challenge...climbing Kilimanjaro, with 20kg weight on his back (equivalent weight of son).

Inspired by James, and to show their support, 8 of his friends will be climbing Snowdon 3 times each, to cover the equivalent distance of Kilimanjaro...each with 20kg on their backs.

Meningitis is deadly; killing and seriously disabling in hours. Small children and young adults are high risk, but all ages can be affected. Globally 1,000 people die daily. We fundraise to invest in research, campaign for vaccines, provide symptom information and support those already affected.
