Story

Sign up and join #TEAMKCUK in the 20 for 20 challenge 2021 to be part of something special, 20 charities representing 20 less common cancers coming together to raise funds and empower people to spot symptoms and get the help they need earlier.

We have joined forces again with 19 other less common cancer charities to create a unique and exciting 20-day challenge. Complete a 20 day challenge filled calendar any time from September 20th - December 20th.

COVID-19 has led to a fall in the number of people diagnosed with all kinds of cancer. Fewer people have come forward with symptoms and some people with rare and less common cancers also faced delays or changes to their treatment and had difficulty accessing support.

47% of all cancer diagnoses in England are for rare or less common cancers.

The percentage of deaths from rare or less common cancers has risen from 53% in 2001 to 55% in 2017.

144,600 people in England are diagnosed with a rare or less common cancer every year.

The total number of people living with a rare or less common cancer in the UK has been estimated to grow from around 1.25 million people in 2020, to 1.63 million in 2030, and to 2.06 million in 2040.

Over the last 18 months, fundraising has been hugely impacted, yet cancer remains a priority for the 20 for 20 charities, so they can continue to provide vital guidance and support so desperately needed. Your help can enable them to continue with their work.

As the need for charity services increases, the donations that we depend on have decreased. Many fundraising events have been cancelled or postponed but with your help, Kidney Cancer UK can continue to support patients, carers and family members and their families affected by kidney cancer and also continue to raise awareness with the aim to save lives.

The idea is simple, choose a challenge you would like to do for 20 days, you may wish to do the same activity or chose to do a different activity each day. You may also wish to bring together a team of 20 people, and 'pass the baton' with a new member of the team competing the chosen challenge each day! The possibilities are endless
