Story
Phrenix.org charity was set up a year ago in memory of Josh who took his own life early in 2020 at the age of 29. Josh was a surfer and a surfboard maker. So, after the success earlier this year of enabling a group of students from Yewstock School to visit The Wave for a surfing lesson, all donations from this campaign will be used to finance an additional school to take another 16 children from a South West SEN school to The Wave again for a day to introduce them to surfing.
After their visit in the summer, The Wave very generously offered Yewstock School another visit for another 16 students which is fantastic as it means that donations this past year have facilitated 32 surfing lessons for disadvantaged children.
The instructors are extremely experienced and gave the youngsters one to one help in the water where needed.
The benefits of the experience are clear to see in the photos and report of the day on our website https://phrenix.org/
We understand that the current cost of living crisis presents its challenges for so many, so if you are able to help, no matter how small with a donation, we promise that every penny will go towards helping youngsters try a sport that they would not otherwise be able to do.
