Your Miles Make a Difference for Mental Health

Since the first Mike's Run, nearly $350,000 has been donated to support mental health education and services in rural Wisconsin communities. Proceeds from Mike's Run have impacted countless lives through mental health initiatives and community programs including the following:

-Increasing virtual care options using Telehealth to meet the demands for therapy and psychiatry services during the COVID-19 pandemic.

-Expanding the Suicide Assessment Response Team (SART) program across Marshfield Clinic Health System to improve mental health for patients and reduce the risk of suicide or self-harm in rural areas.

-Offering Question, Persuade and Refer (QPR) suicide prevention training to over 1,000 community members and primary care providers who engage with populations at risk of suicide. QPR training teaches the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to respond.

-Hosting the Annual Behavioral Health Professional and Community Conference, bringing together medical professionals, educators and community members to learn, train and discuss emerging mental health topics.

-Providing Community Education Sessions focusing on stress management and resilience, emotional intelligence, sleep management and mindfulness.

-Integrating the Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Life Tools program at 17 school districts and youth-serving organizations within Marshfield Clinic Health Systems service area. Life Tools is an 8-week afterschool program that consists of weekly one-hour small group sessions facilitated by a school counselor, school social worker or an adequately credentialed professional counselor for identified at-risk youth ages 7-14 experiencing social emotional and/or mental health difficulties.

-Funding a Mental Health Patient Navigator at Marshfield Clinic Health System: a single point of contact that connects patients and families with appropriate resources for their specific situation while offering support and guidance.
