Story
The Office of Multicultural Student Services (OMSS) aims to cultivate pathways for students to achieve academic excellence, leadership, and their personal/social growth. We strive to increase the retention, persistence, and graduation of multicultural students at UWL, and financial resources are just one means to help achieve this goal.
Scholarship opportunities are one way to empower and alleviate the barriers that inhibit multicultural students' retention at UWL. OMSS celebrates its 50th year at UWL in 2021. To honor this milestone and continue supporting multicultural students, we would like to create four scholarships for the following student categories: Academic Success Institute (ASI) Summer Bridge program, males of Color (African American and Hmong), undocumented and DACA students, and multicultural transfer students.
The bulk of scholarships and resources available are geared towards incoming and first year students. We recognize the need to focus on the 3rd and 4th year retention of multicultural students. Donors' gifts will contribute to the success of students by decreasing financial obstacles and loan debt that impede retention and graduation of multicultural students at UWL.
