Story
We're 1st Camelsdale Beavers, Cubs and Scouts, and Draca Explorer Scouts, and we've been giving it a go here in Camelsdale for over a hundred years.
We've been gritting our teeth, diving in, trying again and sticking at it. We've been going for it, taking part, playing our part. We go camping, hiking, swimming, abseiling, cycling and canoeing. But we also hang out with our friends every week having fun, playing games, working in a team and taking on new challenges.
Everyone's welcome here. All genders, races and backgrounds. Regardless of ability there's a Scout adventure out there waiting for you. And we'll help you find it.
On June 10th, we're lacing up our boots, making loads of sandwiches and packing our rucksacks to walk the entire length of the South Downs Way in just one day.
We hope to raise money to help refurbish our ageing Scout HQ.
We're calling it The Downs in a Day and here's what's happening.
Teams of Beavers, Cubs and Scouts, and Draca Explorer Scouts aged between 6 and 18, will each walk a section of the 160km (100 miles) route between Winchester and Eastbourne at the same time.
Behind the scenes there'll be a team of scout leaders, explorer scouts and parents. There'll be minibus drivers, first aiders, teamakers, cake bakers, and someone with a big map and some pins to keep an eye on things.
