Story
St Lawrence College 150 Appeal
St Lawrence College is a School rooted in its Christian values and ethos: serving others has always been at the forefront of our activities. As a charity, we have typically given nearly £2 million annually over 20% of our fee income towards helping children through bursaries and scholarships, a commitment which has by far exceeded that of other similar schools. Many children over the years have only been able to enjoy a St Lawrence education because they were beneficiaries of this programme.
Our ambition is to create a sustainable fund dedicated to providing financial assistance to families who would not otherwise have the means to benefit from a St Lawrence education.
The urgency and importance of helping pupils in this way, especially those affected by financial hardship, has been highlighted by the coronavirus epidemic which has had a significant impact on all aspects of our daily lives, both in our local and global communities. That is why we are launching the new St Lawrence 150 bursary and scholarship programme.
Our ambition is to create a sustainable fund dedicated to providing financial assistance to families who would not otherwise have the means to benefit from a St Lawrence education. We aim to subsidise 150 suitably able pupils by the year 2029 - St Lawrence Colleges 150th Anniversary.
Our aim is that the St Lawrence 150 will include:
- scholarships for talented children
- bursaries which widen access to those from disadvantaged backgrounds and give support to families who experience unanticipated hardship
- an endowment which will in the long term support both priorities from the interest on the capital sum.
I hope you enjoy reading more about the transformative power of the St Lawrence 150 scheme and the life-changing opportunities it could provide. I am greatly appreciative of your support and for considering being part of the scheme. With your involvement, we can widen the access to St Lawrence and give many more children the opportunity of an educational experience that is inspirational, empowering and holistic.
With all best wishes,
Mr Barney Durrant
Head of College
